F1 in Schools Competition
The challenge is called the F1 in Schools competition. We have two teams from our school from years 8, 9 and 10 (aged 12 to 15). Students are given a brief to design a model CO2 powered F1 Car of the future using a CAD (Computer Aided Design) package. The cars are designed, they are transferred into CNC (Computer Numerical Control) language using a CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) package. Cars are then manufactured on a CNC machine. Students are required to test their designs in school before attending the regional final.
Our teams are called Slick Speed (KS3) and Sweet Speed (KS4). Both teams attended the regional final in Bangor University on the 6th December. The teams raced the model F1 cars against schools from around the region. The Sweet Speed team were successful enough to be invited to the national finals in NEC. Scalextric 4 Schools Project

Denbigh High School is looking forward to competing in this exiting new competition. A team of our pupils will be designing and making a slot car using the state of the art PTC Pro-Engineer Wildfire 5 CAD software.
British Schools Karting Championship

Denbigh High School rewards achievement by offering certain pupils the chance to compete in the British Schools Karting Championship. The lucky team of Product Design pupils go to race against other schools in a large indoor Karting track.
